About this event
Description
Every wonder why one flower has three petals and another has 5, and why so many daisy-like flowers are yellow and most bloom in the fall? What does this strange similarity among certain plants tell us about the origin of species and how they fit into the larger world? And why on earth do some plant families have thousands of species and others only one? Join me as we probe the hows and whys of plant classification to learn how a knowledge of plant families can help us organize and remember the names of plant species.Once you've signed up, we'll send you a virtual meeting invitation with instructions on how to join the webinar. If you're not able to make it, we'll be recording these webinars so you can view them afterwards on our @DiscoverMCCD YouTube channel under the Tom Talks playlist.
These were developed for our volunteers, but are free and open to anyone.
Please contact Jackie Bero at jbero@mccdistrict.org or (815) 219-1549 if you have any questions or recommendations for future Tom Talks topics.
