Learn the how, when, and why of woodworking tools. Using materials from the local hardware store, you'll the cut, join, shape, and sand wood into a pair of nesting serving trays. Topics covered include tool and shop safety, wood as a material, different types of joinery, and the basics of finishes and clear coats. Materials fee of $30 is to be paid to instructor and is based on wood prices as of press time, so the cost could be higher at class time. It is highly recommended that students take this class before Libby's later hand tools class so they have a good base skill set. Instructor Libby Schrum is a furniture designer and maker in Camden with nearly 20 years of woodworking experience. She often teaches at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship and offers one-on-one instruction in her studio.
