Suunto announces the launch of the new Race 2 watch and the second-generation Suunto Wing 2 headphones. The Race 2, the latest edition of the brand’s flagship performance GPS watch, has been redesigned for improved wearability, functionality, and future scalability while keeping the trusted features and tools for everyday use. Meanwhile, the new generation of the Suunto Wing open-ear, bone conduction headphones enables users to stay alert to their surroundings while listening to audio and now also receiving real-time voice feedback directly from the Race 2. With the power duo Suunto enables athletes and everyday adventurers to train smarter, feel stronger, and stay safer wherever their workouts take them.
Suunto Race 2 builds on the foundation of the original Suunto Race, refining what athletes value most while pushing design and performance further. Developed for those who show up day after day – whether chasing a summit, preparing for a race, or carving out time for training in the everyday – the Race 2 introduces a sleeker, lighter design with a larger AMOLED display, significantly enhanced heart rate accuracy, and an intuitive user experience that adapts to structured training, racing, recovery, and everyday life.
Meanwhile, the new generation of Suunto Wing headphones keeps listeners fully aware of their surroundings while delivering clear sound, and when used together with the Race 2, now also real-time voice feedback directly from the watch. Together, these two devices represent Suunto’s commitment to enabling smarter training, greater resilience, and readiness to perform when it counts.
Recent research underscores the impact of music on training and performance. A 2024 meta-analysis published in Frontiers in Psychology confirmed that music improves endurance, lowers perceived exertion, and elevates mood. In studies with elite triathletes, synchronizing movement with music increased time to exhaustion by up to 20 percent. Among recreational runners, selecting music with the right tempo helped boost stride frequency and running economy while potentially lowering injury risk. Combining the motivational power of music with precise performance data, the Race 2 and Wing 2 deliver a comprehensive and inspiring training experience.
Suunto Race 2: Designed for the driven
Suunto Race 2 has been redesigned inside and out to support every phase of the training journey. The new model retains trusted navigation tools, smart performance features, and the robust outdoor capabilities Suunto is known for, while introducing a sleeker profile and lighter feel for long-term comfort. The case uses a refined combination of durable plastic and metal to reduce weight, complemented by a new back plate that supports Suunto’s most accurate optical heart rate sensor to date and an improved snap-in charging interface for greater ease of use.
The upgraded AMOLED display offers vivid clarity, housed in a 49 mm case that is just 12.5 mm thick. The lighter build, 65 grams for composite models and 76 grams for stainless steel variants, makes the Race 2 suitable for training in any conditions, whether navigating technical trails, climbing in unpredictable weather, or tackling tough intervals on early mornings.
Inside, an updated processor brings smoother performance and future-value with room for additional features through software updates. Battery life extends up to 12 days in daily smartwatch mode and when training, the battery goes up to 50 hours in best GPS mode, using precise dual-band tracking across all major satellite systems.
Suunto Race 2 offers over 115 sport modes, including 22 new options, covering trail running, cycling, swimming, skiing, and more. Athletes benefit from advanced outdoor tools like ClimbGuidance for managing elevation and technical terrain, sport-specific heatmaps, weather alerts, sunrise and sunset notifications, and a built-in compass. The Suunto Coach provides evolving, data-driven training guidance tailored to personal goals, while pacing and nutrition features, a recovery tracker, and the Suunto ZoneSense system help maximize readiness and prevent overtraining.
Designed for everyday wear as well as performance, the Race 2 features customizable watch faces, comfortable 22 mm silicone straps in single- or dual-layer constructions, and multiple case configurations, including stainless steel models in black and light gray and a titanium version in dark gray.
Suunto Wing 2: Awareness and audio for every session
The Suunto Wing 2 adds music to the adventure while enabling full awareness of the surroundings with open-ear, bone conduction technology. Designed with a titanium and silicone frame, the headphones stay securely in place during high-intensity workouts, long runs, and daily commutes. The open-ear design helps wearers remain aware of their surroundings, enhancing safety in urban environments and remote trails alike.
Wing 2 connects directly with the Race 2 (and all other Suunto watches, except for the Run) to deliver real-time performance feedback through audible voice prompts, keeping key metrics like pace and heart rate accessible without the need to check the watch or smartphone mid-session.
Gesture-based controls allow quick adjustments to playback or calls using simple head movements, while dual noise-reducing microphones maintain voice clarity for calls or smart assistant use.
To increase visibility during low-light conditions, smart LED safety lights are built into the Wing 2 and can be customized via the Suunto app. Fully waterproof and dustproof, the headphones are engineered for resilience in any environment and weather. Battery life supports up to 12 hours of continuous use, with fast USB-C charging and an optional power bank to extend listening time on longer adventures. Wing 2 is available in two color options, black and coral orange.

The Race 2 and Wing 2, as all Suunto devices, are designed to connect to the Suunto ecosystem.
