About this event
Slow down, be mindful, and carefully explore the urban wilds of Wabanaki land on the wheelchair-, walker-, and stroller-accessible Eastern Bike Trail in Saco. Take your time looking closely at plants and ecology on a small section of trail as you learn the names and gifts of trees and plants you might normally pass by. The trail is wide, mostly flat, and is paved, turning eventually into compressed sand. Registration closes at noon on 8/26. Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Meet at the trailhead behind Thornton Academy. If the Thornton Academy lot is gated, then additional parking is available on Clark Street by the trail entrance or Union St. Walk begins promptly at 4pm. Rain date 8/29, 4-5:30pm. Note: Please communicate any accessibility concerns at registration, and Laura will contact you to discuss any needed accommodations. Laura Grover is a plant and bird hobbyist, botanical illustrator for Fedco Seeds, and a mindfulness ambassador. She has led many plant identification and mindful foraging walks for people of all ages. She enjoys bringing people together to look closely in nature, practice mindfulness outside, and be a sensory animal in the woods.
