Session 1 - Music of the Movies This class will provide an introductory understanding and appreciation of movie music (film scores). Each day of the week will focus on a different aspect of movie music or a composer in order to gain a deeper understanding of the impact it has had on the world of music as a whole. Students will learn basic terminology, composer biographies, and will learn to write their own character theme at the end of the week. Students will also get to virtually meet and greet a modern composer who has written for recent short films. Critical listening and writing exercises will supplement throughout the week. Basic beginning staff reading skills recommended. Session 2 - Reading and Art with Leon Lionni Read books by author Leon Lionnni such as Swimmy, Frederick, Conelius and Fish is Fish. This class will focus on reading comprehension and exploring the authors unique style of illustrating his books. This class is a great blending of literature and art and a way to show off your creative skills.
