Advisor Name: Changqing Li Email: geelii208@gmail.com Description: GIDAS is a club centered around promoting student engagement in computational biology research. As part of this club, students will learn about concepts in biology relating to genetics and diseases. We also prepare students to apply this knowledge at the Genes and Health Contest and the High School Research Conference hosted by miRcore, to which students (grades 7-12) can submit, publish, and present an original research abstract written using knowledge of online computational biology tools taught during the club. We will also guide students through the abstract writing process. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in fundraisers for miRcore (the organization that runs GIDAS), proceeds from which will fund medical research at UMich Ann-Arbor.
