Membership to this organization comes from an invitation to apply based on academic performance. Students who hold a 3.98 GPA will be sent an invitation to apply. Students will participate in a variety of community service activities of their choice, both in and outside of school, while also developing leadership and citizenship skills. In addition to completing 30 individual service hours, NHS will team up with National Junior Honor Society to engage in one group service project in the Spring. In order to retain membership, students must do the following per trimester: maintain a 3.85 GPA, submit 10 individual volunteer hours, be in good behavioral standing, attend all meetings. Members who resign or are dismissed are never again eligible for membership or its benefits. Here is a timeline of events: August 8 – Invitations for interest will be sent out to parents via e-mail August 22 – Registration closes by 5pm August 29 – Letters of acceptance and response forms will be sent via parent email *Please have your student print and complete the response form and have it ready to be turned in upon the first meeting September 5 – Payment for club due by end of day September 9 – First meeting of the year September 16 – Induction Ceremony Details will be sent out at a later date April 14 – Last meeting of the year
