About this event

Description

(Prerequisite any one Cuesta Blacksmithing classes)This class continues a student's blacksmithing experience, reinforcing previously learned safety precautions and techniques, and developing the student's skill. The student will make a hot cut chisel, a blacksmith's tool for cutting hot metal, and learn to harden and temper it. The hot cut chisel can be used to cut a piece of stock to length, divide work (e.g., to make the tines of a fork), or to cut in details (e.g., to make ears and mouth on a horse's head).Students must wear fire-safe clothing (cotton, wool, or leather; no synthetics), closed-toe shoes (no synthetic uppers), and should dress for an open classroom. Long pants and short sleeves recommended. Bring your lunch – no food service available locally. Water will be provided.Location map
