Description

A beginner pickleball live ball class is a fast-paced, game-style clinic designed to help new players improve their skills through continuous, live-action drills rather than structured instruction or slow-paced lessons.
Liveball format: Instead of standing around waiting for instruction, players rotate through quick games or rally-based drills where one team stays on and new challengers rotate in.
Beginner focus: The class is tailored for those new to pickleball, so the pace is a bit slower and the rules, strokes, and positioning are often briefly explained as you play.
Drill-to-play ratio: It’s usually more play than instruction — great for learning by doing and building muscle memory.
Emphasis on fun and repetition: You’ll get lots of touches on the ball, helping you develop consistency and confidence.
Instructor-guided: A coach usually feeds balls, calls players in and out, offers quick tips, and keeps the pace moving.
It's perfect if you're comfortable with basic pickleball rules and want to build game experience and reflexes.




REFUNDS/TRANSFERS - A $15.00 processing fee applies for each activity session refunded. Refunds will be prorated. Refund/transfer requests must be emailed to the Community Classes & Camps office community.classes@santamonica.gov Refunds will be issued only if requested within one day after the first class meeting.
Material fees are not discountable and are nonrefundable
REFUNDS FOR DUPLICATE/MULTIPLE ENROLLMENTS resulting from multiple registration submissions (at one or more offices or via online registration) will be subject to a $15.00 processing fee for each activity session refunded.
CANCELLED CLASSES: Makeups will not be offered for classes missed by the student. Programs are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met. All class dates, times, locations, and instructors are subject to change without notice.
