RSVP Encouraged! All welcome! Open to all ages! This quiet section of the Yampa River Core Trail is perched along the river bank allowing for beautiful views close up. Depending on the time of year there are wildflowers in the spring and fall colors going into September. Your Naturalist will talk about the history of the river, local water rights, fisheries science, and more as you stroll along the Yampa River. What to expect: Our loop is about 1 mile in total with little elevation gain on a paved recreational trail. What to wear: This is a casual walk. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for an hour outside; be ready for what the weather brings for the day. Sun protection such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen is recommended- UV rays are much more powerful at our elevation so even one hour is enough to cause sunburns and sight damage.  What to bring: Ensure you have a water bottle and any medications you may need, including epi-pens, with you. Where to meet: We will meet a the River Creek Park across from Walton Creed Road in Steamboat. Look out for a person with a clipboard and a Yampatika sign in the parking lot!
