Salomon & Trail Running Icon Courtney Dauwalter Unveil New Limited-Edition Collection

Salomon Courtney Dauwalter

Annecy, FRANCE — Salomon, the global leader in trail running, is proud to announce the expansion of its Courtney Dauwalter-inspired technical apparel and footwear collection. The new limited-edition line celebrates one of the most decorated ultra-runners in history, featuring performance-driven designs infused with Courtney’s iconic style, passion for comfort, and her unmistakable energy on and off the trail.

Courtney Dauwalter, Minnesota native and Salomon-sponsored athlete since 2017, has cemented her status as a trail running legend. A former track athlete and cross-country skier, Dauwalter has dominated ultra-trail events with countless female wins and frequent top-10 overall finishes. Among her most iconic victories are the Western States 100, Hardrock 100, and UTMB®, for which she holds the women’s course records. In 2023, she made history by becoming the first athlete — male or female — to win all three races in a single season. In 2024, she continued to redefine excellence, finishing 3rd overall at Mount Fuji 100, 4th overall at Hardrock 100, and 2nd overall at the Ultra Trail Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur 100 — while capturing the women’s titles in each.

In 2023, Salomon and Courtney collaborated to launch the Shortney, an 8-inch oversized trail short that reflects her signature laid-back style. The collection has since grown into a bold, high-performance line, including apparel, footwear, and hydration gear.

Growing up, I always preferred long shorts because I was more comfortable in them,” shares Dauwalter. “Comfort is key, and I know there will be many people who are thrilled to have a lightweight, long-inseam option to run in.

FROM PEACE SIGNS TO PAIN CAVES: THE STORY BEHIND THE DESIGN

This year’s collection features bold colors, graphics, and a recurring peace sign motif — a powerful emblem in Courtney’s story.

“Before my first 100-mile finish, my mom gave me a peace sign coin with the message, ‘You’re stronger than you think,’” she recalls. “I carried that coin through the race, and it became a symbol of belief that I still carry with me today. We turned that peace sign into my initials and placed the quote on every Shortney piece as a reminder that belief — even a sprinkle of it — can get us through the toughest moments.”

The collection’s “Reality to Dream” design theme was born from conversations between Courtney and Salomon’s design team about the mental and physical spaces athletes inhabit during grueling races.

“When you're in the Pain Cave — pushing past your limits — you're surrounded by nature, but also totally focused. It’s part grit, part hallucination. These designs celebrate that journey. A visit to the Pain Cave is always a reason to celebrate!”
