October can be rainy — but here in BC’s temperate rainforest, we don’t run from the rain. We explore it! This October, we’re leaning into the season by becoming water detectives! In this hands-on event, students in Grades 6–9 will explore UBC’s campus, collect and test local water samples, plate bacteria, measure pH, and map their findings together. Along the way, we’ll discover how stormwater moves through our environment. Through each test and trace, we’ll learn how water holds hidden data about the spaces we live in. From puddle to petri dish, every drop has a story! Let’s uncover it — together.
