Drawing Principles & Techniques
Ages 9-12, 13+
Students deepen their study of what is arguably the most direct and intimate of all art processes: drawing. Students will learn the fundamental techniques and visual concepts related to making marks on a surface to create an image. Line, gesture, composition, tone, value and expression will all be explored through a variety of references include from image, still life, the figure and including abstraction and the use of imagination and chance. They will focus on the use of dry materials such as graphite pencil, conte, charcoal, marker, and pastel to create expressive works on paper.
