Description
Friday, October 17, 8:30-10:30pm, discover the magic of moths at MOTHtober FEST! Join NOVA Parks Roving Naturalist Matt Felperin and Ana Ka'ahanui of Capital Nature for a unique nighttime adventure celebrating these fascinating nocturnal pollinators. Using bedsheets and black lights, we’ll attract, observe, and identify a variety of moths while learning why these often-overlooked insects are vital to our ecosystems.
While butterflies may steal the spotlight, moths outnumber them ten to one and serve as a critical food source for countless animals. As you wait for these nighttime beauties to land, sip on a cold beer and enjoy tasty snacks available for purchase. Don’t forget your camera—this is an evening made for moth-watching and photography!
