The “flex” in Flex League means flexibility! Players coordinate with their opponents to schedule matches at a time and date that works best for both parties, making it easy to fit league play into a busy lifestyle.The Novice Division is perfect for those who are new to the sport of pickleball. Whether you're learning the rules, practicing your serve, or just looking to get comfortable on the court, this division provides a welcoming and beginner-friendly environment. Flex Leagues are ideal for anyone seeking structured, yet low-pressure competition with the freedom to play on their own schedule.The league is $20 per team of 2 players; only one person needs to register for the league. Flex league season consists of 6 matches and an additional playoff match that occurs at the end of the regular season. At the beginning of each season, you/your team will receive a schedule with each match opponent clearly identified. For each match, you work with your opponent(s) to coordinate the best date/time to play the match. Pickleball Flex league allows 7 days for each scheduled regular season match to be played. The City of Walnut will reserve two courts on Tuesdays from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm and Sundays from 8:00 am to10:30 pm to play your matches, if these days and times do not work with your schedules then you can play at your convenience. This provides greater flexibility to coordinate playing times for all matches. Each week of the season, a new match time frame will begin. Match time frames may overlap throughout the season. For example: Match #1 Begins on Monday, September 22 and the match needs to be completed by the end of Sunday, September 28 (7-day timeframe). Match #2 Begins on Monday, September 29 and the match needs to be completed by the end of Sunday, October 6 (7-day timeframe). Pickleball Flex League utilize a 3-game match format with games played to 15 – win by 2. In each match, all 3 games are played. A point is awarded to each team for each game won for a max of 3 points for the match. Once the match is over, scores are reported through by emailing ksmith@cityofwalnut.org. A Google Doc will be used to track your team’s progress and standings across the league. Each regular season is capped with a 1-week playoff. During this playoff week, the #1 and #2 teams from the league standings will square off to determine the final league champion. Teams #3 and #4 will square off for 3 & 4 place and teams #5 and #6 will do the same to determine 5 and 6 place in the league and so on depending on number of teams.
