Come and create a cozy, colorful haven for your neighborhood birds in this wet felting workshop. Using naturally water-repellent Bergschaf wool, we will craft a unique felt bird pod that’s as functional as it is beautiful—perfect for small birds like Wrens, Chickadees, and Nuthatches seeking shelter or a nesting space. This hands-on class is a wonderful introduction to 3D felting. You’ll learn how to use a resist to form a seamless hollow shape, explore techniques for sculpting and shaping felt, and discover creative surface design options that add personality and texture to your pod. Whether you’re new to felting or looking to expand your skills, this workshop offers plenty of tips, inspiration, and woolly joy. *Students should bring: 2-3 bath size towels, a Laundry sprinkler bottle or Ballbrause water sprinkler. (There will be several which may be shared if you don’t have one), a plastic bucket/pail to hold water, and sharp pointy scissors. OPTIONAL: Any felting tools you may have such as a Palm Washboard, etc. *Please note the workshops involves some standing. We will be rolling our felt which requires some physical exertion. *Class price includes materials fee. Dawn Edwards is a felt artist and tutor based in Plainwell, Michigan USA. She sells her work under the label ‘Felt So Right’ and teaches extensively within the USA and internationally including Australia, Denmark, Ireland, North Ireland and Chile. Her felt art has appeared in numerous exhibitions, shows, magazines and books, including Ellen Bakker's book, Worldwide Colours of Felt, several issues of the Australian 'FELT' Magazine, the International Feltmakers Association 'Felt Matters' journal, and the Handweavers Guild of America (HGA) journal 'Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot'. Dawn’s felt vessel, ‘The Earth Beneath My Feet’ as well as her 'Blue Coral' felt hat were both chosen as juried selections for FELT: Fiber Transformed in the magazine, ‘Fiber Art Now.
