No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. *Students should bring reading glasses if needed. *Class price includes materials fee. Vicki Cornish is a retired marine biologist and life-long crafter. In addition to making baskets, she enjoys painting, sewing, jewelry making, mosaics, felting, and macrame. From her first coiled basketry class in 2023 she was hooked, learning and expanding her skills to take advantage of the abundance of pine trees that grow around her home in Virginia. Largely self-taught from books and online resources, she uses traditional methods combined with colorful cording and recycled treasures to create distinctive and functional baskets. Vicki has been teaching both beginner and advanced pine needle basketry classes at the Northern Neck Heritage Arts Center since mid-2024 and keeps in regular contact with her students to provide encouragement and opportunities to come together to share ideas and projects and learn new techniques.
