About this event
Tablet (or card weaving) dates back to at least the Iron Age, though there has been continued debate on if there is a longer history for this art. At its core, tablet weaving uses square tablets- cards- with a hole in each corner through which yarn is threaded to create the shed as the cards are turned. This opens up a multitude of possibilities for color, pattern, and design on this warp-faced weaving. The class with briefly touch on some historical uses and patterns of tablet weaving, different weaving set ups, the mechanics of how the warp affects pattern, warping and weaving. Students will warp and weave their own project, then be able to take it home to continue if needed, or desire a longer project. *Please note that weaving requires a repetitive back and forth motion and pulling *Students should bring a belt. *Class price includes materials fee.
