TEEN Drawing: Objects in Focus SESSION 02 LPMJune 16 - June 20, 20253:30pm - 5:00pm
A Moment in Time: The Art of the Still Life
This class will focus on dynamic ways to approach still life drawing. To start, we'll discover the tricks of Trompe L'oeil ("fool the eye") and how artists create the optical illusion of three-dimensionality. Next, we'll take cues from artists like Georgia O'Keeffe who taught us to look at everyday objects in a new way through close-up views. We'll start with value studies, practicing various shading techniques to create depth and volume, use a grid system to scale up and transfer a life size study, and apply color theory to a final, full color object study.
This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 1.5 hours.
Every week is different at Wayne Art Center's Summer Art Camp and class projects will change weekly to correspond with this year's camp theme -- Artists in the Making.
