This class focuses on painting dynamic urban scenes, including people, cars, and buildings. They are a complicated mess of shapes, color and movement and can be fun to paint. We’ll explore simplifying complex subjects, experimenting with accuracy and abstraction, and using color beyond its local hue. Lessons include working from photos and selecting effective subjects.
Bring photo references.
All skill levels welcome.
Materials:
• Oil, acrylic, or gouache
• Bring at least 2 Canvases or panels (at least size 12x12” or larger): one for experimentation, one for painting
• Brushes, palette knives, scrapers, or other tools of choice
