About this event
Altered Altoid Tins with Metal Tooling (1 session) (Fall #1) High School - Adult | Beginner - Intermediate Instructor: Juliette Montague (Fall #1) Saturday, October 4 10:00am – 2:00pm In this class we will explore how to alter Altoid tins using metal tooling/repousse techniques to create new individualized tins for gifting, sewing kits, card holders, paint kits- whatever you imagine! Metal Tooling is the process of decorating or creating texture on thin sheets of metal, often using various tools to press, shape, and imprint patterns or designs. Repousse is a technique that involves raising the metal from the back side to create a 3D design. It’s often used to make relief sculptures, like raised images or patterns. Both techniques trace back to ancient civilizations like the Egyptians and Greeks, making them a great way to combine art and history. We will be using 36 gauge aluminum and a variety of tools and techniques. If you don’t have any Altoid tins: no worries! The instructor has plenty to share with you. Other small tins would work as well. FEE: $75 Painting/Drawing Classroom, 2nd Level Approx. Cost of Materials: $25-$30 Image Credit: Juliette Montague
