About this event
Build a Goddess Headpiece (3 sessions) (Fall #2) High School-Adult | All Skill Levels Instructor: Laura Bendoly & Jules Knowlton (Fall #2) Thursday, October 16, 23, & 30 6:30pm – 8:30pm Participants in this workshop build jeweled, flowered and Earth-themed headpieces based on the theme of a folkloric goddess. These will derive from world mythology, family history and current anthropology. The finished product will be 1-3 headpieces that can be used for an event, festival, holiday, or portrait session either as part of a costume or displayed. Along with guiding the construction of headpieces, instructors Laura and Jules will lead discussion about goddesses from history and in contemporary culture. Why do we come back time and again to the legendary heroines -- Circe, Demeter, Isis, etc. – in forging women’s leadership roles? Are we inventing new legends for women in the current age? We will offer the option during our sessions to record portions of our conversation as part of an ongoing podcast, Siren Songs, which the leaders are building as a series of interviews about women’s roles and leadership. FEE: $60 Enrile Classroom, Lower Level Approx. Cost of Materials: $65 Image Credit: Laura Bendoly
